Discerning God's Will

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

Let Go and Let God

As children bring their broken toys,
With tears for us to mend, I brought my broken dreams to God,
because He is my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him
in peace to work alone.
I hung around and tried to help
with ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched them back again
And cried, “How can you be so slow?”
“My child” He said, “What could I do?
You never did let go.”

Good morning,

I am God. I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I am here to help you. If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it by yourself.

Kindly put it in the SFJTD (Something for Jesus to do) box. It will be addressed in MY time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it or remove it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem. If it is a situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult with me in prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution.

Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer away.

With eternal love,
God

God, give me eyes that I might see
the work that can be done by me.
God, give me ears that I might hear
the cry of those who need me near.

God, give me lips that I might speak
comfort and peace to all who seek.
God, give me a mind that I might know
how to help those who need me so.

God, give me hands that I might do
some large or simple task for You.
God, give me a prayer that I might pray
Thy help and guidance every day.
And, this one thing all else above,
God, give me a heart that I may love.

PEDAL

At first, I sat in front: Jesus in the rear. I couldn't see Him, but I knew He was there. I could feel his help when the road got steep.

Then one day, Jesus changed seats with me Suddenly everything went topsy-turvy.

When I was in control, the ride was predictable - even boring, But when Jesus took over, it got wild! I could hardly hold on.

This is madness! I cried out. but Jesus just smiled - and said, “Pedal!” and so I learned to shut up and pedal and to trust my bike companion.

Oh, there are still times when I get scared and I'm ready to give up. But then Jesus turns around, touches my hand, smiles, and says, "Pedal"!

"Dancing With God"

When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing GOD's WILL is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels quite right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other one lead,
then both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G: I thought of GOD, followed by "u" and "i".
"GOD, "u" and "i" dance."
GOD, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let GOD lead.
My prayer for you today is that GOD's blessings
and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in GOD ... as GOD abides in you.
Dance together with GOD, trusting GOD to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.

How do I turn things over to God?

Q. I don’t understand how to turn things over to God. Do I just wait for something to happen?

A. No. You must take action.

Q. So how do I know what action to take? Does it come to me in a dream or what? I just don’t get it. I cannot figure out how to turn things over to God.

A. Maybe this will help:

Whether in your job, personal life or now during your job search, ask yourself what God would want you to do. You are always faced with decisions. Ask yourself what God would have you decide. Ask how you should spend your time. Ask yourself “What should I do right now? How should I handle this problem or decision that is in front of me.”

Basic job search skills tell you that the road to your next job is personal contact with people - on the phone or in person. So get your marketing plan out, write it if you haven’t already, and make that next phone call or whatever is called for.

You generally know more about what the right thing to do is than you think you do. Or you know who to contact to ask for advice. God will help you make those decisions. Be ready to realize that some of the decisions you make will surprise you – that is God helping you. The more you ask for His help, the more help you will receive.

Spend some time in prayer at the beginning of each day asking God for His guidance during that day. Ask God to take your concerns and worry off your mind. Let Him know that you cannot handle the stress and pressure by yourself and you need His help.

Throughout the day, ask God for help before making a decision, or before making a phone call or meeting with someone. You don’t have to spend 15 minutes each time you speak with God – a quick prayer, a quick question, a quick acknowledgement of your need and appreciation of His help is all you need to do.

As you get comfortable with daily decisions based on what you think God would want you to do, you will gain more confidence in doing the right thing. Soon you will be accomplishing more than you thought possible. That is what happens when you turn things over to God and ask for His blessings - and expect His blessings.

God loves you and wants you to succeed. Trust Him to guide you.
